Devlin's Grace

Book Title: Devlin’s Grace
Author: Lee Ann Sontheimer Murphy
Pages: 124

There’s two reasons on why I felt I needed to do this review. Okay, make that three. One, one of the main characters has PTSD, as do I. Two, it has to do with a building possible relationship and the hardships involved, which reminds me of every relationship I've ever tried to have, including my marriage. And three, who in their right mind wouldn't want to read this book? I couldn't wait for it to pop up as being next on my review list!

I enjoy the way Gracie and Devlin first meet, it’s beautifully written. The starting scene of it all, the words were painting a picture. The way they are with each other, scared but eager, makes the story already seem incredibly appealing. As they lightly get to know each other, they both are playing outside of their comfort zone; curiosity and eagerness washing over them. They dance between needing each other and running from each other. Fear of getting close seems to be the biggest issue between them.

The beginning of them getting to know each other is absolutely adorable! The word choice, the actions, and reactions are well played and incredibly thought out. Reminds me of all the cute things involved when getting to know someone new. I also love how the author expresses the thoughts, feelings and emotions that both characters are feeling. It really allows one to get lost in the book that much more. It’s kind of intoxicating. I don’t want to put the book down. I fear I won’t get anything done without knowing what’s going to happen next. To prevent risking that kind of torment, I will be reading this all the way through.

This book proves that opposites attract. He’s a bad boy in every way. He has a rough past and a personality to match. She is a good girl who is afraid of most things. He rubs off on her with his bad boy ways. She rubs off on him, teaching him what it’s like to be more relaxed and gentle.

Let’s talk about the sex! Though not as descriptive as an erotica, it is the perfect amount of emotion, passion, and details. Its light but enough to make you get lost in the moment with them. Might say it will even turn you on.

All that Devlin is facing comes to the surface, which puts a damper on their building relationship. Though the relationship has no title, maybe it won’t need one after all. Then again, Gracie is quite a strong woman. They could be the perfect match, if they can handle what lies ahead.

Oh, gosh! I am crying! Someone who doesn't cry and more so doesn't cry and admit it! This book definitely got to me! I’m NOT saying what is making me cry. It’s definitely worth reading for yourself! You’re going to have to tell me if you cried too! I don’t want to be alone on this water-work train!

I’d tell you what happens at the end. If they make it work or if the fate has other plans for them, but I won’t. I can’t say I’m disappointed with any part of this book because frankly saying so would be a lie. Well worth the read, down to the very last word!
